About the developer

Zero Zero Robotics (brand: Hover Camera) is a robotics company founded in 2014 by PhDs MQ Wang and Tony Zhang. One of the first to develop intelligent flying robots for consumer purposes. The first flagship product of Zero Zero Robotics, developed in 2016 under the Hover Camera brand, was the Hover Camera Passport selfie drone, which received wide recognition, winning many honorary awards such as Best of the Best by Red Dot Design, IF Design, CES and others, and entered into a worldwide partnership with Apple Retail. In 2017, Zero Zero raises $20 million from Snapchat to further develop their second even more high-tech product, Hover 2. sales start — June 2019) H2 is currently at the pre-order stage.

Nevertheless, despite the difficulties, on December 19 of this year, Zero Zero announces the world’s first consumer bicopter V‑Coptr Falcon with an amazing V‑shaped multi-patented twin-engine propulsion system and patented flight control technology. The drone features an extremely long flight time and far exceeds current industry standards. As usual, let’s start with the key features of the novelty.

A new drone for a new decade

An all-new V‑shaped twin-engine propulsion system, combined with patented motor tilt technology, non-linear dynamic simulation and control algorithms, has increased the flight time to 50 minutes.

world's first V-shaped bi-copter

Low noise profile

The slower rotation of the V‑Coptr Falcon propulsion system, coupled with the patented propeller design, provides more effective lift with less noise.

The developer notes that the V‑shaped twin-engine power plant is much more efficient than the classic four-engine configuration of the same size with the same payload.

Rotor Tilt Technology

Sophisticated industrial design, non-linear dynamic simulation and control algorithms ensure stable flight with high maneuverability.

3‑axis mechanical gimbal

The V‑Coptr Falcon has a 3‑axis mechanical gimbal that provides stabilized aerial photography with a yaw adjustment range of ± 80 degrees.

Auto tracking

Advanced visual tracking algorithms allow the V‑Coptr Falcon to accurately and consistently follow the subject for shooting.

Obstacle Avoidance

Drone V‑Coptr Falcon is equipped with an advanced VIO (visual inertial odometry) and a front stereo camera. It can recreate a map of the surrounding area, detect and avoid obstacles in real time.

Cinematic footage

Pre-programmed flight paths coupled with post-editing templates will help the user achieve cinematic results.

Serial production of the V‑Coptr Falcon, albeit with a great delay, but still started. The model is available for purchase, though not in all countries. USA is not on the list. In the states, a standard kit will cost the consumer $1,200.

Let’s summarize

Undoubtedly, the new product from Zero Zero looks promising, like the previous Hover 2 drone. In general, the declared information about the V‑Coptr Falcon raises no questions and I want to see the drone in action as soon as possible. In the event of a successful start of mass production, the model will definitely be able to compete with top UAVs, since the time interval for many of them in practice is 23–25 minutes. However, if you are interested in the presented drone, we still recommend to postpone the pre-order/purchase and wait for the first reviews. Stay with us, we will continue to monitor the incoming information.

Test to determine the maximum flight time in position holding mode at a headwind speed of 13.6 m/s.

The official announcement of the first bicopter in the hobby V‑Coptr Falcon, in China, December 19, 2019.

Top reviews from users

Unpacking, inspecting, configuring and updating software.

Pre-flight test after unpacking to identify bugs and determine the maximum flight time, in order to later test the drone for maximum flight range. At the same time, the author will check the performance of the flight and shooting auto modes, as well as the quality of the shooting of the onboard 4K camera; Plus, as a bonus, an unexpected crash caused by the shutdown of motors with a battery charge of 2%. (We recommend viewing to anyone who is considering this model for purchase!).

First flight test.
