The Modified XQ-58A Valkyrie Jet Drone Can Fly Longer and Attack the Enemy With Different Types of Weapons

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, a company specializing in the development and production of defense and security equipment, has modified its XQ-58A Valkyrie tactical jet drone. This is one of the most functional and affordable UAVs in its class, costing about $6.5 million for small-scale production.

According to Kratos CEO Eric DeMarco, the company is working on modifying the first production batch of 12 Block 1 XQ-58A drones and is simultaneously producing 12 Block 2 units. The new version of the drone can fly longer, higher and with a larger payload, and Block 2B is planned make additional changes.

Half of Block 2 will be Block 2B, with new features based on customer feedback, DeMarco said. In addition, the XQ-58A is capable of launching “jammer” drones and attacking the enemy with various types of weapons.

One of the features of the XQ-58A is its ability to launch using a launch vehicle from a special platform and land by parachute. This allows it to be used in difficult areas where there are no airfields.
