Today, i.e. On December 13, 2022, it was announced that Finnish multinational telecommunications equipment manufacturer Nokia has signed an agreement with Singapore-based electronics manufacturer Rohde and Schwarz to bring QualiPoc 4.9G/LTE capabilities and 5G network measurements to the Nokia Drone Networks platform.
The agreement is a first-of-its-kind software solution that will help expand drone use cases to provide Communications Service Providers (CPS) with broad and in-depth knowledge of their wireless network in order to use them more efficiently, the agreement says.
The parties intend to work with determination on a prototype that integrates QualiPoc’s mobile network measurement and troubleshooting capabilities using Rohde and Schwarz’s QualiPoc software embedded directly into a Nokia drone connected to MX Industrial Edge (MXIE) via Digital Automation Cloud (DAC) .
It is now possible to access this information using a QualiPoc Android smartphone connected to the drone as a payload. Nokia and Rohde and Schwarz said that with an embedded software solution, they are aiming to reduce the weight of the drone for these activities, resulting in lower power consumption and longer flight times for more efficient and sustainable operations.
Massimiliano Mannelli, Senior Director of Product Management and Portfolio Strategy for Mobile Testing at Rohde and Schwarz, said: UAV, … which will open up new use cases for carriers, enterprises and private partners over indirect wireless channels.”
Thomas Eder, Head of Embedded Wireless Solutions at Nokia, also commented: “Our work with Rohde and Schwarz demonstrates how, with Nokia Drone Networks, enterprises can leverage the reliability, security, and low latency of private wireless communications into their manufacturing process. and Industrial Cloud Edge.
The implementation of the agreed agreement will make it easier to make decisions about future use cases in Industry 4.0, ports, mines and other industrial areas such as network planning, connected asset optimization, security or surveillance.
