About the manufacturer

We welcome a new competitor in the selfie drone niche — J.me. The manufacturer is Shenzhen Pegasus Robot Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing. It sells its products under the Feima Robotics brand. Specializes in the development and subsequent production of UAVs and software for them.

The main products at the moment are: Pegasus F1000/F200 professional drones/Butler multifunctional drone software/J.me compact household drone. Recently, the company has turned its interest towards the production and sale of ultra-small civilian unmanned aerial vehicles. Their first creation in this direction was the drone — J.me.

About the product

J.me is a moderately compact drone — 169 × 169 × 70 mm, a direct competitor for such UAVs as: Zerotech dobby, Wingsland S6 and Yuneec Breeze. If the drone had a foldable design, it could safely stand next to the famous Mavic Pro. The weight of the drone is 550 grams and this fact tells us that the quad will be subject to mandatory registration. Although it loses quite a bit in size and weight, it is nothing compared to the package of features that J.me received.

J.me — received the world’s smallest two-axis B / C gimbal, in fact, this is the most significant plus of this selfie drone, since not one digital stabilization is comparable in operation with analog.

Test Drive

Extremely stable in flight and control. Control is implied in two classical ways, this is through a mobile device and control equipment * (purchased separately *). When controlling a smartphone, it allows you to move away to the declared 200 meters without any problems (and even more than 350–400m, but already subject to launching in interference-free zones). By controlling the equipment, this range expands to 1 km. In general, the quality of communication deserves respect.

J.me is responsible for the positioning of the global GPS / GLONASS / Beidou system, and when the drone descends to a height of 3 meters and below, the ultrasonic and optical sensors are activated, which are located at the bottom of the drone, and I must say that this tandem works on a solid five.

  • The flight weight of the drone was 570 grams, which is almost twice as heavy as the Spark.
  • The obstacle detection system that should be built into the front arms of the drone is currently not available.
  • I was surprised by this fact, in order to fully use the entire arsenal of drone capabilities, you need to fly off in beginner mode for 300 minutes.

All the declared autonomous functions (orbits, follow me, flying by waypoints, returning home) the drone works flawlessly. The flight time declared by the manufacturer is fully consistent with reality from 20–23 minutes, which once again indicates the high quality of the product.

Price

Feima J.me is available for purchase on various marketplaces for an average price of $329.

Minuses

  • No electronic stabilization (like Spark)
  • No 4K at 30fps and 1080p at 60fps
  • Until it flies over obstacles
  • App and firmware are still in development
  • Requires 300 minutes of flight time to access all features
  • Price

The Feima J.me is a great high quality product that can offer the owner good video quality and unparalleled flight time for a selfie drone. It is the undisputed leader among such drones as: Yuneec Breeze/Zerotech dobby/Wingsland S6/Passport/Xiro Xplorer Mini, but it is still far from Spark, if only because the camera shoots in 4K mode only at 20fps, and in FHD mode only 30 frames / s, and in fact he cannot fly around obstacles today. J.me is available for sale on Ali at a price of $599, which is again a minus today, because a more technologically advanced Spark will cost the consumer at least $60 less. With such a competitor as Spark, the manufacturer needs to either modify the drone or significantly reduce the price tag.
