Experts Simulated the Operation of the Lancet Kamikaze Drone Paired With the Orlan Reconnaissance Drone

Experts sim­u­lat­ed the oper­a­tion of a Russ­ian drone «Lancet» paired with a recon­nais­sance drone «Orlan». The drones are launched by two fight­ers from a cat­a­pult and com­ple­ment each oth­er to hit the tar­get.

In order for the drone «Lancet» hit your tar­get, you must per­form the fol­low­ing steps:

  • two sol­diers launch a recon­nais­sance drone «Orlan»using a cat­a­pult;
  • drone «Orlan» tracks and selects tar­gets;
  • sol­dier secures drone wings «Lancet» and sets it up to be launched from a cat­a­pult;
  • drone com­mand and con­trol sys­tem «Orlan» trans­mits tar­get coor­di­nates to the drone «Lancet»;
  • «Lancet» switch­es to elec­tro-opti­cal guid­ance sys­tem as direct­ed by the com­mand and con­trol cen­ter «Orlan»;
  • «Lancet» attacks the tar­get by acti­vat­ing a high explo­sive pro­jec­tile, which is used to det­o­nate or pen­e­trate armor.

The pro­duc­tion of a drone costs from 20 to 40 thou­sand dol­lars. While a hyper­son­ic mis­sile «Dag­ger» costs $10 mil­lion.
