These are the first sea trials of a wheeled drone. It easily overcomes off-road conditions and various obstacles. With full equipment, it will become an effective reconnaissance drone, says design engineer and project manager Andrey Shevchenko. This is a rotating turret that will have a surveillance camera installed. It will also be equipped with an infrared camera and a night vision camera. Remote control of the drone is crucial. At this testing stage, the designers’ task is to ensure the uninterrupted operation of their machine, making the radio control signal stable even close to the enemy’s position. Currently, we are putting a lot of effort into working on protection from electronic warfare systems to control without interference at a distance of up to 5 km, depending on the landscape of the area. In addition to our own efforts, we took the solution included in some examples of wheeled construction equipment as the basis for development. The machine is maneuverable, and, most importantly, it is low-noise due to the electric drive. It has a full electric drive, and both the front and rear platforms have autonomous drives. On top, there is space for placing additional cargo.
The second model, a cargo drone, was designed based on the experience already gained. This machine was easier to design; from assembly to testing, only 4 weeks passed. This drone is designed to transport goods to the front lines for the evacuation of the wounded. It is capable of carrying almost a ton of provisions, with a loading weight of 800 kg. Behind, there will be a side with a flat platform to transport people or cargo and deliver it to the right place. In the coming week, the drone will undergo final tests. The authors of the project hope that after them, the drones will be handed over to the Ukrainian military.
