



The Yuneec H520 commercial drone has received a key RTK upgrade developed by the Swiss company Fixposition.
Introduction
At the CES2017 exhibition held in January, Yuneec presented a wide range of its products, among which were both already proven in practice, and new products, such as: Yuneec VALET, Yuneec BREEZE 4K, as well as the Yuneec Typhoon H520 drone, which is based on the already known hexacopter Typhoon H with a focus on commercial applications. At first glance, apart from the pronounced orange color, the H520 drone from Typhoon H is no different, but in reality, everything is not what it seems. Further in detail.

Camera E50
– A medium focal length camera (40mm) based on a high-quality 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor capable of capturing still images at 12MP resolution. The camera lens consists of ten lenses with low distortion and minimum dispersion. Adapted for use with standard 30mm filters. The E50 camera is an ideal tool for inspecting and monitoring cell towers, wind turbines, oil rigs, and more. Allows for detailed shooting of objects at a safe distance from them.
CGO-ET RGB
camera with a thermal imager – simultaneously records two video streams, in the infrared spectrum and in normal mode, thanks to its high light sensitivity (20 times higher than the human eye) it takes high-quality photo and video material even in low light conditions. The resulting video is displayed on the user’s screen in picture-in-picture mode. As a result, the CGO-ET camera becomes an effective tool in emergency, search and rescue, law enforcement, fire fighting, construction, solar panel maintenance, etc.
Camera E90
– high-speed wide-angle camera with high resolution (up to 4K at 60FPS), suspended on a high-precision brushless gimbal. Ideal for capturing high quality photos and videos. The camera is based on a 20MP 1-inch sensor and a high-speed image processing chip of the latest generation H2. The E90 is ideal for providing proper control in crowded areas, search and rescue operations and 3-D mapping/simulation. Its capabilities will also be appreciated by professionals in the field of video broadcasting, as well as in the photo-video industry for high-speed shooting and accurate color reproduction.
The Intel RealSense R200 vision system, a camera with a separate Intel Atom power module, together with a pair of ultrasonic sensors, provides the drone with the ability to detect obstacles (realizes an exact 3D copy of the world model) and intelligently fly around them.

About the product
Yuneec Typhoon H520 is a commercial version of the famous hexacopter. The ideal solution for long flights as well as proven and reliable technology in one package.
Difference
Unlike the basic predecessor Typhoon H, the 520th received a completely new electronics, software, longer beams, larger main rotors with a lower noise level and a quick release mechanism, improved BC motors, as a result, it was possible to achieve an increase in lift and now the drone can to carry more additional equipment on board, and thanks to the new power source, the flight time was increased to 30 minutes. The rest of the drones are the same.
According to the developer, the main efforts were aimed at protecting the electronic compass, now the H520 has become even more reliable.
Application
Overall, this hexacopter is of uncompromising quality and is ideal for everyday use. Thanks to Waypoint technology, 2D and 3D geocopying capabilities, and SDK
and support application programming interface (API), make Yuneec Typhoon H520 an ideal solution for industrial applications.

As mentioned above, Yuneec Typhoon H520 received modified BC motors – BL3210 740KV (850KV on Typhoon H (PRO)). By increasing the length of the beams, the size and shape of the rotors, the manufacturer assures that the H520 has become quieter, able to carry more additional load, and thanks to the “5 motors” mode, the drone has become even more reliable and is able to fly safely in the event of a failure of one of the six e-mail. engines.
Camera
The Typhoon H520 is equipped with the same 12MP CGO3+ 4K camera on a 3-axis gimbal as the Yuneec Typhoon H. As additional options, 3 more different cameras E50, E90 and CGO-ET are available.
Food
The H520 hexacopter is equipped with an improved high-performance HV battery – 4S 6850mAh 7C LiPo (vs. 4S 14.8V 5400mAh 8C 79.9Wh LiPo, which is on Typhoon H). Provides continuous flight up to 30 minutes (versus 25 minutes for Typhoon H).
Equipment
The ST16 equipment, which has proven itself exclusively from the best side, has been upgraded, as a result of which another letter “S” has been added to the model abbreviation. The developer worked on the stability of the connection by installing two 2.4GHz antennas and one separate improved 5.8GHz antenna for the video link. The ST16S ground station also received a new powerful Intel Quadcore processor and a classic 7-inch LSD monitor. Everything works on Android OS.

Depending on the configuration, the price of Yuneec Typhoon H520 will vary from $1999 to $4699. As for the cameras, the price of the CGO-ET camera with a thermal imager is $2,242, the E50 is$1099.99E90 – $1299.99.
Conclusion
The manufacturer positions Yuneec Typhoon H520 as a completely new product. As a result, we received a modified H-version of the drone for commercial use, taking into account additionally purchased options. In general, as always, a quality product from a well-known UAV manufacturer, and in any case, it deserves attention.
