What is CES 2021?
The Consumer Electronic Show is an annual consumer electronics show held in Las Vegas in January sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association. The biggest and most important technology event on the calendar, which has been the launching pad for everything from the VCR to the DVD player to 4K. On the official website, this event is described in the following context: “CES is the most influential technological event in the world — a testing ground for breakthrough technologies and global innovators.” “Here the world’s biggest brands do business and meet new partners, and only the most successful innovators enter the stage.”
The first CES was held in New York in June 1967. Since then, thousands of products have been announced at the annual event, including some that have changed our lives.
Product Categories
CES showcases companies including manufacturers, developers and vendors of consumer technology equipment, content, technology delivery systems and more. Exhibitors showcase products from all aspects of the consumer technology industry, including 5G connectivity, artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, smart cities, sports, robotics and more.
When will the exhibition take place?
The exhibition halls of last year’s exhibition attracted 170,000 visitors. This year, for obvious reasons, CES 2021 will be held exclusively online. The event will take place from 11 to 14 January and will include keynotes, conferences and product presentations. You can register on the official CES website.
Expected decisions and projects
In the Drones category, a number of bright announcements are expected from both well-known developers and start-up companies. What they will bring to CES2021 is kept secret, but nevertheless, some information still leaked to the network and allows us to think in this direction.
Sonin Hybrid

The Sonin Hybrid Recruit is a revolutionary, versatile 225 km/h level-flying drone designed exclusively for first responders. At the heart of the drone is no longer a new hybrid technology that combines the advantages of battery and fuel, providing an autonomy of more than three hours and allowing you to reach speeds three times faster than most of the fastest commercial drones available today.
Kawasaki Heavy Industries

Kawasaki hasn’t revealed much about its new K‑RACER project. However, in the month of November, they made an official announcement that their special helicopter-type drone had successfully passed the first flight tests in a fully autonomous mode. It is known that the K‑RACER hybrid power plant was developed by Aerospace System. The hybrid is based on a turbocharged engine from the Kawasaki Ninja H2R sportbike, with a power of 310 hp. The developer also noted that all the proven technologies in the development of the latest K‑RACER are planned to be used to create high-speed manned / unmanned helicopters.
SkyDrive Inc.

SkyDrive SD-03 eVTOL is a single-seat vertical take-off and landing electric vehicle developed by the Japanese company SkyDrive Inc, designed to expand human mobility in a metropolitan area. After the first flight of the previous prototype in April of this year, the Tokyo-based developer said that their new model SD-03 successfully made its first open demonstration flight.
SONY

In November, Sony announced its new Airpeak project, a new drone business set to launch in the spring of 2021. So far, Sony has only shared the logo and preliminary plans, so we expect a full presentation at CES.
ORQA

ORQA is a young high-tech Croatian company developing next generation visualization systems for First Person View (FPV) and Remote Reality (RR) applications. Founded in 2018. They first made themselves known at CES in Las Vegas in January 2019, with the prototype of today’s revolutionary FPV goggles for racing drone pilots — Orqa FPV.One. It is expected that at CES2021 they may bring an advanced digital version of the FPV goggles — Orqa HD, which should compete with the unique digital system from DJI Innovations.
DJI Innovations

Despite such a wide range of new products presented by the company by the end of 2020, the developer made it clear to everyone that this is far from all and there will be more. Nevertheless, to date, only two long-awaited new products are known, the announcement of which should take place in the near future. The first new product is the DJI FPV Drone — this is the first racing drone from DJI, which the developer has been working towards for several years. About those. The characteristics of the novelty are still unknown, but its appearance clearly determines the future potential. The next new product will be the second version of DJI FPV goggles, which will replace the previous model and will act as the main FPV headset for the first racing drone.
Beagle Drones

Another new creation from the well-known American hobby company Beagle Drones, which received maximum support on Kickstarter in less than an hour. The Nova is a redesigned, all-weather, crash-resistant cinewhoop drone with technology that allows users of all skill levels to safely fly in FPV and shoot high-quality video both indoors and outdoors. In the list of main advantages: weight 248 grams, waterproof shockproof case, max. distance 1 km, hybrid FPV/4K camera (Movie modes: 4K@60/30fps; 1080P@120/60/30fps), RTF kit.
