UAVTEK Bug 3

The British manufacturer of hardware and software solutions for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) — UAVTEK, has announced a lightweight tactical all-weather LTE nano drone of the third generation BUG 3, which, as the developer assures, not only is not inferior to such well-known competitors as the Black Hornet, but is also the most affordable solution for such type. Read more about this unique innovation below.

Peculiarities

Key features of BUG 3:

  • Flight weight less than 200 grams
  • Allows equipment with various payloads and at the same time the total weight of the drone does not exceed the flight weight of 250 grams
  • BUG offers a wide range of options for its flight class and currently does not require an official pilot qualification to fly in most countries of the world.
  • Best-in-class flight duration up to 45 minutes
  • Wind resistance: 18 m/s, with gusts up to 23 m/s
  • Adapted for operation in all weather conditions including rain and snow
  • Possibility of autostart/landing from hands, ground and moving vehicles
  • Max. flight speed: 80 km/h
  • Several flight modes, including training
  • Radio communication: 5.8GHz (standard); LTE module
  • Max. distance: 2 km (at 5.8GHz); 50 km (LTE)
  • Autonomous qualities: The drone system allows the operator to create missions for fully automatic flight, which is ideal for patrolling and mapping
  • The autopilot can be switched from a local pilot to a remote pilot depending on the flight mode.
  • The drone system can simultaneously broadcast FHD video stream to multiple devices — mobile phones, laptops, tablets and ATAK
  • The drone system allows you to work in swarm mode (the drone can track the leader by GPS and is ready to work with advanced algorithms)
  • Equipped as standard with ECCM electronic protection
  • Capable of landing, observing and listening, providing covert surveillance for several hours. In addition, BUG is able to fix the camera in a given position, regardless of the direction of flight.
  • BUG 3 configuration allows full customization from color to individual custom payloads and abilities

Availability and price

According to the information on the official website, at the moment the developer does not supply its products to private individuals. For communication, it is necessary to indicate the official or corporate e‑mail address in the “Contacts” section. The price of BUG 3 depends on the configuration. The starter kit will cost a corporate client $4,000, which is 10 times less than the price of the direct competitor Black Hornet 3.
