On August 31, at the 57th IFA 2017 International Consumer Electronics Show, DJI announced a modified version of the drone – Mavic Pro Platinum. Learn more about upgrade benefits and pricing here.
Introduction
DJI Innovations, following the demands of the market, introduced its first folding quadcopter. Mavic Pro is the most portable drone in the developer’s lineup. 2016 showed a trend towards compact solutions that fold up and are easy to transport. GoPro quickly realized this by making its first Karma quadcopter foldable. This is not another Phantom or Inspire. The Mavic Pro is a radical new and unique product at a very reasonable price. Compared to the Phantom series, the Mavic Pro is half the size and lighter. When folded (83 × 83 × 198 mm), it fits into any bag, backpack or even pocket.

Camera
The camera uses the same sensor (1/2.3″) as the Phantom 4. It shoots video in resolutions from 4k at 30fps to 1080p at 96fps, and takes 12MP photos in DNG format. The viewing angle has been reduced by 16 degrees compared to the Phantom 4 camera (from 94° to 78°). But the aperture of the lens has become larger, Phantom 4 – f / 2.8, Mavic Pro – f / 2.2, which cannot but please fans of shooting in the dark.
There is also a transparent protective cover for the camera, but it has a bad effect on the quality of shooting.

0.3 – 13 meters
Working range:
0.3 – 13 meters
Conditions for optimal sensor performance:
Surface with clear outlines with mandatory illumination (lux>15)
Remote Control
The remote control has also become more compact and now resembles a joystick from a game console. It has a small monochrome monitor that displays various kinds of information, such as telemetry, flight mode, flight altitude, distance and other parameters. The display is not designed for FPV, use a smartphone or DJI Goggles for first person view.
You can also charge your mobile phone via the USB socket located on the bottom.
The lower part unfolds to install a smartphone, most modern smartphones are supported, including an oversized one. Do not try to put a tablet in it – it will not fit. The exception is the mini iPad tablet. As before, the phone is connected to the remote control using the included USB cable (available in three versions for different smartphones).
You can control the Mavic Pro drone with one smartphone, but in this case, the connection is via WiFi, and this, in turn, negatively affects both the flight range and the quality of the FPV picture.
