About the product

A nov­el­ty from the well-known Chi­nese man­u­fac­tur­er of radio-con­trolled toys JIN XING DA is the JXD 510G quad­copter. Before this mod­el, there were already sim­i­lar ver­sions, these are the Pio­neer JXD 509W drones (FPV flight imple­ment­ed via Wi-Fi) and JXD 509G (FPV at an ana­log fre­quen­cy of 5.8 GHz with­out delay). In fact, the JXD 510G quadro­copter is a mod­i­fied 509G. The devel­op­ers took into account the dis­ad­van­tages of the pre­vi­ous mod­el, cor­rect­ed them, updat­ed the design and added a lit­tle more func­tion­al­i­ty to the quad.

The JXD 510G quad­copter is equipped with brushed motors with gear trans­mis­sion. For a bud­get quad, they do an excel­lent job.

flight properties

In flight, the JXD 510G showed the usu­al dynam­ics for this UAV niche, which is quite enough for a novice pilot. All func­tions and modes worked with­out com­ment. The alti­tude hold func­tion is imple­ment­ed with­out the par­tic­i­pa­tion of sen­sors. Every­thing is trite sim­ple, thanks to the left stick being in the cen­ter posi­tion. He holds the height, but if the wind, then the par­tic­i­pa­tion of the pilot is nec­es­sary, since the quadric will be demol­ished in his direc­tion.

Camera

Unlike oth­er pre­de­ces­sors in this series, the devel­op­ers of JIN XING DA have final­ized the HD cam­era on the JXD 510G. The pic­ture is now clear and cor­re­sponds to the declared 720p. But, there were some draw­backs and the “jel­ly” that is present both at the time of the flight and at the time of watch­ing the video is to blame. The prob­lem is that the cam­era is attached direct­ly to the body of the quad and does not have the sim­plest dampers.

This short­com­ing is solved by installing the cam­era on any vibra­tion damp­ing mate­r­i­al, such as foam or rub­ber. As a result, this minus can be elim­i­nat­ed by almost 90%, it becomes much more pleas­ant to fly, as well as to watch a record­ed flight.

Battery

The quad is pow­ered by a clas­sic sin­gle-can lithi­um poly­mer bat­tery at 3.7V 600mAh 30C. Pro­vides an aver­age flight with the cam­era turned on up to 7 min­utes, which is gen­er­al­ly the norm. Charg­ing the bat­tery takes about 2 hours. There­fore, we rec­om­mend that you buy spare bat­ter­ies in advance. Ide­al­ly, if they are 1200mAh.

The bat­tery is charged by USB. The end of the charge cycle will be indi­cat­ed by a red light on the charge itself.

Control

The JXD 510G quad­copter comes with clas­sic 4‑channel equip­ment, which was equipped with the pre­de­ces­sors JXD 509W (509G). Oper­ates at a fre­quen­cy of 2.4GHz. Pro­vides a dis­tance of up to 50 meters. Yes, not much, but if you con­sid­er that the quadric is for the novice seg­ment of con­sumers, then it’s quite nor­mal. Pow­er is sup­plied from 4 1.5v AA bat­ter­ies (pur­chased sep­a­rate­ly).

The flight from the first per­son for this mod­el is real­ized through the FPV mon­i­tor. The pic­ture is broad­cast from the drone’s cam­era in the ana­log fre­quen­cy range of 5.8 GHz with­out delay (unlike FPV via Wi-Fi). The ana­log approach gives the pilot the abil­i­ty to per­form full-fledged flight in FPV gog­gles. And this is a com­plete­ly dif­fer­ent feel­ing. The mon­i­tor has built-in pow­er. The bat­tery charges via USB (cable includ­ed) in about 2 hours. As in the case of the drone bat­tery, the red indi­ca­tor on the charg­er will indi­cate the end of charg­ing. The bat­tery life of the mon­i­tor on a sin­gle charge is about 1 hour.

The JXD 510G is cur­rent­ly one of the best deals under $100. The pilot gets a quad with alti­tude hold and return to the trans­mit­ter from the but­ton, an HD cam­era with quite accept­able shoot­ing qual­i­ty and, most impor­tant­ly, FPV flight at an ana­log fre­quen­cy with­out delay. Ful­ly jus­ti­fies the mon­ey spent. Suit­able exclu­sive­ly for begin­ners who want to com­bine in their first expe­ri­ence and flight train­ing in gen­er­al and adap­ta­tion to fly­ing in FPV gog­gles, which they will even­tu­al­ly come to.
