Air taxi with a range of 400+ km
Chinese developer of autonomous aircraft (AAV) EHang Holdings Limited on Twitter hinted at the imminent announcement of a new electric air taxi model with a much greater range than the current two-seat Ehang 216. Rumor has it that the new eVTOL will have a cruising range of at least 386 km . The other day, a schematic image of what the new eVTOL could be appeared on Chinese social networks:
“EHang has been developing long-range electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for many years. In the next few months, we are going to test-flight this new product, which will have many new breakthrough features. We’ll post more information later.” EHang (@ehang) March 9, 2021.
EHang shares rise
Amid these rumors, EHang’s share of the US NASDAQ rose by more than 20%. Investors seemed to rejoice in the rumors and tweets after EHang’s stock crashed a few weeks ago following a US investment firm’s report.
It is worth noting that EHang is the main partner of several European projects in the field of UAM (Urban Air Mobility). If EHang actually succeeds in realizing an electric air taxi with a range of 400+ km, it will be a big step forward for urban air mobility concepts. Which is not particularly doubtful.
