New DJI drones in China

According to the source, DJI Innovations in China has unveiled two new drones, the DJI Agras T40 and T20P. Both are designed for agricultural applications. High performance drones are optimized for application scenarios such as precision spraying, seeding, aerial photography and mapping. See below for more details on each model.

DJI Agras T40

DJI’s new flagship for digital agriculture offers a significant improvement in efficiency over its predecessor, the Agras T30, which became available internationally earlier this year.

Key Features

  • The agricultural octocopter (in X8 configuration) Agras T40 boasts a seeding capacity of 50 kg and a spraying capacity of 40 kg. In an hour, this drone can apply 1.5 tons of urea or spray pesticides on a 130-hectare field. The drone is also equipped with omnidirectional radar and binocular vision to detect obstacles up to 50 meters away, allowing it to fly in difficult terrain such as orchard terraces, spraying up to 24 hectares per hour of such land.
  • The T40 has several design improvements that provide a more even spray, 3‑minute start-up, and improved strength and corrosion resistance. In addition, the drone supports real-time weight monitoring sensors for spray optimization and accurate refueling alerts.
  • DJI equipped the T40 with an ultra-high-definition camera and adjustable gimbal so that the drone can collect real-time images of farmland and orchards, build maps on the spot, and automatically detect site boundaries and obstacles for intelligent route planning and efficient spraying/fertilization.
  • Through the DJI Smart Agriculture Cloud Platform, users can automate processes such as field inspection, crop growth analysis, and disease monitoring. In addition, pairing this system with the DJI P4 Multispectral drone will allow farmers to apply variable-specific decisions according to an automatically generated prescription map for farmland.

A new and improved DJI T40 Intelligent Flight Battery has been developed with a capacity of 30,000 mAh, with an ultra-long life of up to 1500 cycles. It is reported that a specially designed smart charging hub can fully charge such a battery in 9 minutes.

DJI Agras T20P

T20P light agricultural quadcopter with 25kg seeding capacity and 20kg spraying. Unlike the T40, the DJI T20P can spread 1 ton of fertilizer or spray pesticides on a 73 hectare farm or 16 hectare orchard in one hour.

Differences between models

In terms of ruggedness, portability, flight safety and real-time visual monitoring system, the T20P also incorporates all the improvements that have been applied to the T40. With the exception of the battery, the drone is equipped with a 13,000 mAh intelligent flight battery, which can also be fully charged in nine minutes.
