Introduction

The Chinese brand “JH TOYS INDUSTRIAL CO., LIMITED” once again delighted UAV enthusiasts with the introduction of the Cheerson CX-22 drone. The drone got its start from the famous Cheerson CX-20 model, and many pilots around the world managed to like it.

From the previous model, the drone inherited only the best. The developers subtly listened to the opinion of consumers, as a result they significantly improved the quality of the plastic, installed two GPS modules for more accurate positioning, equipped the FPV kit with recording video in FullHD quality, installed a 2-axis gimbal for the new FHD camera and finalized the software. As a result, the user gets a drone that is good by modern standards for amateur aerial photography.

Review

The flight characteristics of the Cheerson CX-22 are, as always, on top. Separately, wind resistance and vertical traction can be distinguished. These figures significantly distinguish the CX-22 from the CX-20. Thanks to the controller and the OSD module, the monitor that comes with the kit will display flight data telemetry and a number of equally important control parameters.

You can buy the CX-22 in two trim levels: “CX-22 Standard accessories” and “CX-22 A Set”. The first set includes the maximum package (drone case + drone + remote control + 7 inch FPV monitor + 1080P camera + 2-axis camera gimbal + 5.8G transmitter + 5.8G receiver + 8GB memory card + battery and chargers devices for the monitor and the drone itself).

The second set is budget and includes only CX-22 quadcopter (without gimbal and camera), remote control (without monitor), drone battery and charger, everything comes in a standard carton box. This set is suitable for pilots who cannot afford to purchase the complete set at once.

The manufacturer offered 3 retrofit kits.

JH TOYS offered 3 retrofit kits: “CX-22 B Set Camera + Monitor”, “CX-22 C Set Camera” and “CX-22 D Set Monitor”. In the first retrofit kit, the buyer will receive all the missing options at once (1080P camera, 2-axis gimbal, 5.8G transmitter / receiver, 7-inch FPV monitor, monitor battery, charger, 8 GB memory card). The second kit differs from the first one in that it does not include a monitor and a 5.8G receiver. The third retrofit kit contains only a 7-inch monitor, a 5.8G receiver, a battery for the monitor and a charger.

GPS module

There are two Beitian BN-800(880) modules installed on the Cheerson CX-22, one in the console and the other on the drone itself. Excellent friends with GLONASS. There were no complaints in the work.

Accumulator battery

The Cheerson CX-22 Lithium Polymer battery has an impressive 3S 11.1V 5400mAh 20C performance. It takes approximately 3 hours to charge with a flight time of up to 25 minutes. It has a light indication of the battery charge, which is very handy. Users note the tendency of the battery to fail, most likely due to marriage (decided by replacing it with a new one).

The Cheerson CX-22 comes with an excellent 4-channel transmitter operating at a frequency of 2.4GHz. Provides a flight range of more than 800 meters. The remote comes with a built-in GPS module. Powered by 4 AA batteries, not included.

Monitor

7 inch high definition TFT LED monitor with built-in 5.8GHz video module. In addition to the online picture from the drone’s camera, the OSD module displays all the comprehensive control information about the flight on the display. Interference resistant. Comes with a light shield.

The CX-22 quadcopter is suitable for amateur pilots who choose a drone for beautiful and large-scale aerial photography. Excellent dynamics, good photo/video quality even in low light conditions, as well as a set of modes and functions that premium drones have, bring this UAV into the segment of desired devices. To date, the unreasonably high price for a drone is embarrassing, which allows you to purchase premium DJI Mavic Pro and Mavic Air quadrocopters with these funds, which have a significant advantage, both in terms of manufacturability and quality of shooting over the drone presented in the review.
