Litchi Vue – especially for the viewer

For reference: The “Litchi for DJI Drones” mobile application is a popular alternative free mobile application (an alternative to the official mobile applications: DJI Go 4 or DJI FLY), which, in addition to providing standard control functions, allows you to expand the functionality of such DJI drones as: Mini 2 and Mini SE, such automatic flight and shooting modes as Follow Me / Object Tracking, Waypoint / Waypoint and Orbit / Circle of the selected object.

So, the developer of this application has released a related application called Litchi Vue, which allows you to broadcast a live video stream from the smartphone / tablet of the pilot controlling the DJI drone to a second smartphone / tablet. The app is compatible with mobile devices running Android and iOS.

How it works?

According to the developer’s video instructions below, connection requires one mobile device with the “Litchi for DJI Drones” app installed, one mobile device with the “Litchi Vue” app installed. Both devices must be connected to a shared Wi-Fi network (no internet connection required). After launching the DJI drone, you need to follow these steps:

  1. On the screen of the pilot’s device, tap on the “Share” icon in the upper right corner.
  2. Choose from the proposed list “Litchi Vue”.
  3. The Share icon will change to a Magnifying glass with three dots, and will also change color to yellow, which will indicate that the device is ready to transmit a video stream.
  4. On the viewer’s smartphone, launch the Litchi Vue application and select the name of the pilot’s device from which the streaming is performed from the list provided. Two options will be available as a display mode: standard and VR (relevant when using a VR headset).
