Review of the Xiaomi Mitu Drone Mini Quadrocopter, Which Flew Away and Did Not Promise to Return – Drone vs Cat

Good day. Today we will look at anoth­er almost new prod­uct — the Xiao­mi Mitu Drone quadro­copter, which flew away and, for some rea­son, did not promise to return. Despite this, there was still enough time to make a full review of this drone.

The quad­copter has a quad-core proces­sor with a clock fre­quen­cy of 1.2 GHz and 4 GB of inter­nal mem­o­ry for record­ing videos and pho­tos using a 2 MP cam­era. The max­i­mum pho­to res­o­lu­tion is 1600x1200 pix­els. The max­i­mum video res­o­lu­tion is 1280x720 pix­els. In addi­tion to the cam­era on the front of the drone, there is a laser sen­sor for air com­bat with anoth­er Xiao­mi Mitu quad­copter.

At the bot­tom is an ultra­son­ic sen­sor that works on the prin­ci­ple of park­ing sen­sors in a car. It helps the drone to keep its posi­tion and avoid col­li­sions and obsta­cles that will appear below it.

The drone comes in a small square light blue box. On the front is an image of the drone itself. On the sides of the box is the sil­hou­ette of a fight­ing hare, which is a sym­bol of Mitu.

On the back of the box are the main spec­i­fi­ca­tions, where you can find the dimen­sions of the drone, which are 91x91x38 mil­lime­ters. The weight of the device is 88 grams. The con­nec­tion with the drone is via a 5 GHz Wi-Fi con­nec­tion. The remote con­trol is a smart­phone with the MIdrone­M­i­ni appli­ca­tion installed on it.

The autonomous oper­a­tion of the drone in 10 min­utes is pro­vid­ed by a 920 mAh bat­tery. Charg­ing time is 60 min­utes. The bat­tery can be charged both through the drone itself via the microUSB con­nec­tor, and using a sep­a­rate charg­er, which is pur­chased sep­a­rate­ly along with two bat­ter­ies.

The pack­age includes the drone itself, sev­er­al man­u­als in Chi­nese, six pro­pellers (two of them are spare), pro­peller guards, a bat­tery and a charg­ing cable.

The pro­peller pro­tec­tion is made of soft plas­tic, which eas­i­ly flex­es against an obsta­cle and catch­es the pro­peller. There­fore, most of the col­li­sions are accom­pa­nied by the fall of the drone, while on the pro­pellers you will soon notice micro-chips.

The first flight of the drone was eval­u­at­ed by a cat, and such a fly turned out to be too much for her. Almost imme­di­ate­ly, I found a wall with a quadric, because touch sticks, espe­cial­ly with­out prop­er cal­i­bra­tion, will not be clear to you at first.

Now a lit­tle about the appli­ca­tion. It is as sim­ple and intu­itive as pos­si­ble. Even a per­son who has nev­er dealt with quadro­copters and Eng­lish will cope. In the upper part there are but­tons for take­off from the sur­face, take­off from the hand, com­bat drone mode, quadro­copter and smart­phone cal­i­bra­tion. Just below the auto flip but­ton. Next is the Wi-Fi con­nec­tion indi­ca­tor, bat­tery charge and set­tings. At the bot­tom are the pho­to and video but­tons. The most dif­fi­cult ele­ments are con­trol joy­sticks. The left one is respon­si­ble for tak­ing off and low­er­ing the drone, as well as its rota­tion around its axis. Depend­ing on which direc­tion the drone is turned, the direc­tion of its flight will also depend. Before tak­ing off, it is advis­able to cal­i­brate the drone, oth­er­wise it may become uncon­trol­lable for you.

The set­tings are also extreme­ly sim­ple. The first step is to view videos and pho­tos tak­en from the drone. Then you can change the shoot­ing res­o­lu­tion. Just below the name and pass­word of the Wi-Fi net­work and change the firmware.

Next, the val­ue of the max­i­mum height of the drone changes. The max­i­mum val­ue reach­es 25 meters. Good set­ting for indoor fly­ing. Inter­est­ing­ly, you can set the val­ue up to 0.1 meters.

A lit­tle low­er you can change the sen­si­tiv­i­ty of the sticks, but by and large, this item changes the speed of the drone. You can com­pare dif­fer­ent modes in the video review. Even low­er, the loca­tion of these same sticks changes.

As a result, I want to say that the drone still flew away from me. Part­ly it was blown away by the wind through the win­dow of the near­est house, part­ly I took it away. I even climbed onto the roof of the Khrushchev build­ing, but the drone nev­er found it. In this regard, I rec­om­mend that you fig­ure out the direc­tion of the drone’s flight already at the moment when the drone is in the air. More­over, since the sticks are adap­tive and appear in the part where you press the screen, it is nec­es­sary to look at the screen, name­ly which stick but­ton you press.
