JJRC H62 Splendor Pocket Selfie Drone

In our time, it is no longer sur­pris­ing with the devel­op­ing indus­try of tech­nol­o­gy and the air­craft it pro­duces. On the shelves of stores at for­eign sites, you can find both minia­ture for “pen­ny” and expen­sive drones. There are drones to fly, there are drones to shoot. In this quad­copter, the man­u­fac­tur­er tried to com­bine 2 tasks and sep­a­rate it into a sep­a­rate group of self­ie drones. Yes, this is a lit­tle bird for lovers of “self­ies”.

This is not the first quad­copter I have, but the JJRC H62 Splen­dor, which will be dis­cussed in this review, for rel­a­tive­ly lit­tle mon­ey, makes me recon­sid­er my views on fly­ing mobile equip­ment.

To turn on, only one key is used, locat­ed on top of the drone. Over time, with use, the paint is a lit­tle shab­by.

When fold­ed, the pro­peller beams fit in the body. There are no land­ing legs to reduce the dimen­sions. Instead of them, small heels made of dense foam rub­ber. The absence of legs is due to the pres­ence of a pres­sure sen­sor in the drone to accu­rate­ly mea­sure the height, with its help the drone sits down gen­tly. There are also sig­nal lights — two green and two red.

When unfold­ed, the drone is slight­ly larg­er, but still remains minia­ture. The pro­peller beams are not fixed, which has a pos­i­tive effect in the event of an acci­dent or col­li­sion. They just fold up.

A cam­era is locat­ed at the end of the case, which can be slight­ly low­ered or raised. The tilt angle is approx­i­mate­ly 60 degrees. The cam­era pro­trudes slight­ly for­ward of the body, there­by not cap­tur­ing the screws when shoot­ing.

At the bot­tom of the drone is a remov­able bat­tery, which is insert­ed into a spe­cial com­part­ment and fas­tened against acci­den­tal loss. Although this can only hap­pen with a strong fall, as the bat­tery is insert­ed quite tight­ly.

Since the drone is posi­tioned as a self­ie, it ini­tial­ly comes with­out an addi­tion­al remote con­trol. All manip­u­la­tions and set­tings are car­ried out through the appli­ca­tion, which can be down­loaded by QR code from the instruc­tions or found inde­pen­dent­ly by the name “JJRC Splen­dor”. To con­nect to the drone, you need to select a WiFi net­work with the name UAV-E3**** after turn­ing it on. After that, all menus will be avail­able in the appli­ca­tion.

In gen­er­al, I liked the drone, it is easy to con­trol with a smart­phone or tablet. On small screens it will be more dif­fi­cult. I like it bet­ter when the remote con­trol is in my hands, and not a smart­phone. Flight time dur­ing video record­ing is reduced by 1–1.5 min­utes. With­out video record­ing, the claimed 8 min­utes flies calm­ly, of course, with­out large gusts of wind. The flight range is about 30 meters, which is a lot for such a baby. Yes, and it is already dif­fi­cult to dis­tin­guish it at such a dis­tance. The abil­i­ty to shoot pho­tos and videos in 1280 * 720 res­o­lu­tion, which not every drone of this price cat­e­go­ry can do. Easy to car­ry and store, pleas­ant to fly. An inter­est­ing fea­ture is also the track­ing mode for an object, in which the drone can fly at a short dis­tance behind the select­ed object. Unfor­tu­nate­ly, the pro­gram is not per­fect and if there are 2 objects and they are sep­a­rat­ed, then the drone can choose any of them. I would not say that this is the best drone for pho­tog­ra­phy, but the idea is good and has a place to be.
